Ok, first off, the point of me writing this is not to anger or depress anyone. More to educate. I’m a big history buff, and I was thinking with the impending deep freeze that is about to ascend on us, how bad could it get? It looks like Wednesday night might be the coldest day of the week, with an actual overnight low of -38F. Now that’s plenty cold, but what was the coldest day in Brainerd’s storied history? That would be February 2nd 1996 with a balmy -54 below zero. Do you remember that day? As for the coldest day in the history of Minnesota? That would be the same day in Tower they registered a low of -60 below zero. So yes it’s gonna be cold, but just remember it could be a lot worse.
