Viking Everson Griffen Involved In Incident At Minneapolis Hotel, Team Concerned About Well-Being

It has been a whirlwind of information on Viking defensive end Everson Griffen in the past 24 hours. Here’s what we know so far.

Sources confirmed to 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS that the Viking defensive end was involved in an incident at the Hotel Ivy on Saturday. Police records stated that a person at Hotel Ivy was verbally threatening to shoot someone in the middle of the day on Saturday. Police dispatch audio claims that the suspect said to the staff that if someone wouldn’t let him in his room that he was going to “shoot someone”. Police said no gun was ever seen. Viking officials are aware and issued the following statements.

General Manager Rick Spielman said,

“We are aware of the situation involving Everson Griffen and certainly concerned by what we have heard. We are currently focused on Everson’s well-being and providing the appropriate support for him and his family.” Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer confirmed today that Griffen would not travel with the team for Thursday night’s game against the Los Angeles Rams. “Right now, the only thing we’re concerned about with Everson has nothing to do with football,” he said. “It’s about him getting better.

More to come on this I’m sure.
