We all know many of our visitors from the Twin Cities travel up US Highway 169 to the Brainerd Lakes and beyond. If you are one of them be careful. According to a report listing the most dangerous highways for each state for summer travel, 169 was chosen for Minnesota. The report stated that their were 27 fatalities this summer on 169. I-94 came in second with 20, followed by US 10 with 14.
Florida has the state road with the highest number of traffic fatalities during this time period. There were 160 deaths on I-10 during summertime in 2015, 2016, and 2017. That’s the most on a single road on the entire list. I-95 is a top three deadliest summer highway in eight different states. I-70 and I-80 are both top three deadliest highways in six different states. Just a little something to keep in mind during one of the busiest travel weekends of the year. Have a safe and enjoyable Labor Day weekend.
