We found out this morning on the Loon Morning Crew that today is Moldy Cheese Day! So I went on the search to find out which moldy cheese is okay and which cheese you should avoid.
What I found was that it really depends on the color of the mold. Some cheeses are considered highly desirable depending on the color of the cheese. According to the National Day Calendar “some cheese molds, red or brown-tinged molds, for example, are offensive. Toss those bacteria-contaminated moldy cheeses in the garbage quickly and move along to the grey, blue, or green colored moldy cheeses in the fridge instead.”
So as you dig through your fridge for an afternoon snack….go for the green… and plug your nose. And check out this video with father and sons sampling moldy and stinky cheese. The expressions are priceless.
