Here are the new movies coming to Brainerd this weekend.
Peppermint
IMDb Synopsis: Peppermint is a revenge story centering on a young mother who finds herself with nothing to lose, and is now going to take from her enemies the very life they stole from her.
Rating: R
Run Time: 1h 42min
An R-rated Jennifer Garner revenge movie is not something I expected to ever see. This feels like more of a “if the reviews are good, I’ll check it out” kind of movie to me. Unfortunately the Rotten Tomato meter isn’t a fan of the movie, sitting currently at a very low 15%.
The Nun
IMDb synopsis: A priest with a haunted past and a novice on the threshold of her final vows are sent by the Vatican to investigate the death of a young nun in Romania and confront a malevolent force in the form of a demonic nun.
Rating: R
Run Time: 1h 36min
I’m going to be straight up with you guys here. I didn’t watch the trailer and I will be staying far away from this movie. And it has nothing to do with the quality of the film, I just HATE scary movies. So when I see things like ‘demonic nun’ in the synopsis, that’s an automatic “nope” from this guy.If you enjoy paying money to go into a dark theater and get scared for 90 minutes, be my guest.
Searching
IMDb synopsis: After his 16-year-old daughter goes missing, a desperate father breaks into her laptop to look for clues to find her.
Rating: PG-13
Run Time: 1h 42min
The reviews are coming up big time for Searching. Rotten Tomatoes has a 91% right now on the John Cho led movie. I’m getting a slight Gone Girl vibe off the trailer, which is a high compliment. A mystery/thriller with high reviews is something I will for sure be checking out.
