It’s McRib season.
The McDonald’s McRib was first introduced in Kansas City, KA in 1981.
The menu item made it to restaurants nationwide the following year and received mixed reviews.
It was removed just 3 years later in 1985 due to poor sales, but was revived in 1989 thanks to its new cult following of supporters. The sandwich became seasonally available in 2006, as Mike Bullington, McDonald’s senior archives manager, said the sandwich was made to be “enjoyed during the colder seasons.”
Today marks its return, and fans around the country are celebrating.
The McRib is a pork sandwich, with BBQ sauce, pickles, onions, and a sesame seed bun.
Welcome back, McRib.
