A celebration to which many who not only enjoy America’s favorite past time, but also believe winter is finally over with that first crack of the bat. Our Minnesota Twins kick off the season at home against division rival Cleveland Indians. The days festivities begin at 6am with free breakfast on the Plaza. Gates open at 1 pm with the first 30,000 fans receiving a Twins puffer vest. Twins legends Rod Carew, Tony Oliva, Kent Hrbek, and Tom Kelly will be welcoming fans through the gates and Justin Morneau will be throwing out the ceremonial first pitch. Always a highlight, the Minnesota Air National Guard will deploy two F-16 fighters to perform a flyover and a giant American flag will be unfurled on the field.
New foods will also make an appearance, look for (and smell for) fresh baked breads, the Broomstick hot dog which boosts 2 feet in length is topped with chili, nacho cheese, grilled onions, and jalepenos. A peanut butter and jelly sandwich with bacon, a grown-up grilled cheese with provolone and marinated tomatoes, and a vegan channa rice bowl (pass) are just a few of the new mouth watering edibles on the menu for the 2019 season. GO TWINS!
