War is a funny thing. It’s all consuming, and if you’re part of the action, it controls your entire pattern of thinking.
I love stories like this one. Stories that maybe help us understand that Mince Pies were even more important than actions of war. More important than the camaraderie of his peers. The fact that the soldier hid the tin of mince pies that he had received from his mom, tells me that it was of the highest priority….that Christmas and Mom were at the core of his conscience.
