His Name Was Walter Cronkite… And That’s The Way It Is

When I was growing up, each and every weeknight the world stopped in my home. The most trusted man in America took over our television (Yes, it was color) and we sat in silence as he, get this..read the news. Walter did not  have an agenda, he kept his opinions to himself, he never tried to make anyone look bad or good. He didn’t try to sway our opinions or have a bunch of talking heads arguing over each other. Walter would read us the news, like a parent reading a bedtime book to a child. When he was finished, he would sign off. ‘That’s the way it is”,  and we were left to make up our own minds as to what we thought.  It was just that simple.
