What began as a small track cleared through the woods in 1968 just south of North Long Lake with no restrooms or seating has grown into the Midwest largest sporting event. I have been fortunate enough to make it out to the races many years.
Whether slinging drinks for the fans or covering the festivities for the station, it is one of the highlights of my summer. You really can’t explain the feeling of your teeth rattling as the top fuel racers screech down the track at speed over 330 MPH in under 4 seconds. Such a RUSH, especially when you’re surrounded by 100,000 of your best friends from all over the country. The fastest track in the world was electric this past weekend, thanks to all who make it possible and bring this great event to our great area and share the wealth throughout the community. Did I forget to mention…cheese curds and beer?
