Former Brainerd High School star Cole Smith has signed a one year entry level deal with the Nashville Predators.
A tireless worker Cole has won UND’s Iron Man award for off-ice training 3 times. He’s coming off his best season at UND with 11 goals and 18 points in 34 games and is considered a top defensive forward in NCAA hockey.
Smith is part of a long line of terrific athletes in his family, including his mom and dad. A 3 sport star for the Warriors in football, hockey and track, it was a pleasure to see him play then and a thrill to see Cole continue his career now.
My favorite memory of Cole as a Warrior broadcaster was a late game tackle on 4th down, 1 yard short of a first down that helped send the Warriors to last ever Prep Bowl Championship game in the Metrodome in November of 2013.
