According to a list by FishingBooker.com, Brainerd has been named one of the best destinations to do some ice fishing in America!

It’s always nice to see our local area get a little extra spotlight (quick shoutout to my fiancé for finding this article from FishingBooker.com and wanting credit for it).

The list highlights 8 separate locations across the United States where the ice fishing is considered excellent. Below is what was said about Brainerd when it comes to dropping a line in the winter:

Having been featured in both our Best Winter Fishing Destinations in the US in 2020 as well as our Best Fishing Festivals articles, it was only a matter of time until Brainerd earned its place among the top ice fishing destinations in the US as well. Over 460 lakes within 25 miles of the city make it a perfect location for angling enthusiasts. The fishing is great any day of the year and even in winter that doesn’t change. 

The article highlights our 450+ lakes within a small radius as a key reason and it’s hard to argue.

It’s probably a good reason the Brainerd Jaycees Ice Fishing Extravaganza does so well here and is such a massive success. You know it’s not too shabby when HBO comes and does a special on it.

Also on the list is our neighbors to the west at Devils Lake in North Dakota.
