Brainerd Bereaves One Of The Good Ones

It is with a heavy heart and much regret to share some very sad news. Gordon Langness, age 62, passed away at his home on Thursday, January 31.

Most everyone knew him as ‘Gordy’ or the Gord-Man’ at the Mill Avenue Holiday Station Store in Northeast Brainerd. Gordy spent nearly 40 years greeting and helping customers at the store, and in general making everyone’s life a little bit better. He was probably one of the most up-beat and cheerful people I have ever met, with a true heart of gold. What you saw is what you got with Gordy, and he was never at a loss for words. The fact that he cared about each and everyone of his customers is an understatement. Gordy always went way above and beyond his call of duty to ensure you had a pleasant visit at the store.

According to store manager, Dave Hayes, “We are all just heartbroken and shell-shocked by this unexpected loss. Everybody knew him and he was loved by everyone in town. Right now we’re just scrambling to keep the store a float. Gordy was the heart of this store.”

The store will never be the same without you, Gordy.  You were truly one of a kind and will be missed dearly by the hordes of customers that would stop and shop, just to see you. Brainerd really is bereaving one of the ‘Good Ones’ here.

Arrangements are pending with Brenny Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service.
