A Season For Exploring

When snow and cold set in, there are plenty of ways to get outdoors rather than hibernate. In the Brainerd Lakes area there are a bunch of things to do if you want to get outside and enjoy this beautiful area. No matter what you are into, here’s a guide to some fun places to enjoy the outdoors.

Ice Fishing

Brainerd Minnesota has long been a fishing destination and the winter months are no exception. We have over 460 lakes in the area with practically every species of fish from walleye to northern pike, crappies, lake trout, perch and more. Skiing and Tubing

Once the temperature dips Brainerd also offers excellent downhill skiing, snow boarding, and some of Minnesota’s best tubing with one of the largest tubing hills in Minnesota at Mount Ski Gull located just a short drive north of Brainerd and Baxter. Snowmobile

Minnesota snowmobiling is at its finest in the Brainerd lakes area! We’ve got 1,200 miles of groomed trails to explore, without a doubt this will be your favorite MN snowmobiling spot. The Brainerd area offers scenic snowmobile trails through forest and over our many scenic lakes. Trail maps, conditions, restaurants, and lodging can be found here.

Cross Country Skiing

The Brainerd lakes area offers a great selection of Minnesota Cross Country Ski trails in addition to our scenic lakes, we have trails that wind through beautiful Minnesota hardwood forests filled with scenic landscape and abundant wildlife. Winter Mountain Biking

This is becoming one of the fastest growing winter activities in the Brainerd Lakes. Fat tire winter mountain biking on Minnesota’s world renown Cuyuna mountain bike trails has become a national destination.
