Everyone is starting to get a little psyched for the Brainerd Jaycee’s Ice Fishing Extravaganza. And of course the question every year is “What will the weather be like?”. So I thought I’d take a look at it.
The National Weather Service has a 90 percent chance that we will have an above average temperature for the day on January 26th. That means it’s probably going to be above 3 degrees. So the real question for the day is “What’s the wind going to be like on Gull Lake that day?”. Well, right now the experts are saying the wind will probably be out of the West/Northwest at about 9-11 MPH during the tournament time. All in all its not bad. We’ll probably start the tournament at around 3 above and by 3 at the final cannon we’ll be at around 7 above. I think the worst tournament weather I can remember, delivered a temp of 15 below at tournament time with about a 15 MPH wind. So we can handle it this year.
