Here are the new movies coming to Brainerd this weekend.
A Simple Favor
IMDb Synopsis: A SIMPLE FAVOR, directed by Paul Feig, centers around Stephanie (Anna Kendrick), a mommy blogger who seeks to uncover the truth behind her best friend Emily’s (Blake Lively) sudden disappearance from their small town.
Run Time: 1h 57min
I’m a huge Anna Kendrick fan so seeing her do something a little more mystery thriller than pop music sing a long competition movie is something I am here for. Then you add Blake Lively and a “Gone Girl” vibe? Take my money.
IMDb synopsis: When a young boy accidentally triggers the universe’s most lethal hunters’ return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race.
Run Time: 1h 47min
Ok, confession time here… I’ve never seen any of the Predator movies. I’m pretty much in the dark when it comes to these. They look cool but I’ve never been introduced to the series. The early Rotten Tomato meter isn’t taking too kind to the new installment, at a 36%.
Unbroken Path To Redemption
IMDb synopsis: When the war ended, his battle began. Based on Laura Hillenbrand’s bestselling book, UNBROKEN: PATH TO REDEMPTION begins where Unbroken ends, sharing the next amazing chapter of Olympian and World War II hero Louis Zamperini’s powerful true story of forgiveness, redemption, and amazing grace.
Run Time: 1h 38min
Movies based on true stories are always a nice change of pace. You feel like you’re learning and being entertained at the same time. Plus as a guy who enjoys history, it’s another added bonus.
White Boy Rick
IMDb Synopsis: The story of teenager Richard Wershe Jr., who became an undercover informant for the FBI during the 1980s and was ultimately arrested for drug-trafficking and sentenced to life in prison.
Another movie that has caught my attention. But that’s easy to do when you put the man himself Matthew McConaughey as one of the main characters.
